The popular sketch comedy variety show first went “live from New York” 50 years ago, in 1975. Now, SNL50: The Homecoming Concert is streaming on Peacock. The three-and-a-half hour concert celebrated Saturday Night Live’s rich musical history, with everyone from Jack White to Lauryn Hill lending their talents.

Individually, Jelly Roll performed a Johnny Cash medley, while Snoop Dogg sang his 1994 hit “Gin and Juice.” However, the real magic happened when the two came together for “Last Dance With Mary Jane.”

Featuring a verse from Jelly Roll, “Last Dance With Mary Jane” appears on Snoop Dogg’s album Missionary, released in December 2024. Snoop’s version samples the 1993 classic from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, with the late rock star’s vocals threaded throughout the song.

Undeniably, “Last Dance With Mary Jane” is an ode to Snoop’s love of the plant. The West Coast legend raps in the first verse, Don’t bother asking me to ever give my lady up / Was about five years old taking my first puff.

Himself an avowed cannabis user, Jelly Roll chimes in on the second verse with, I’ve seen some things in my life, feels like I’m raging inside / This time I’m changing my mind.
