Perhaps most touching of all, Dolly has appointed Whitney Leah Parton, a younger relative and social worker, as the shelter’s first official director.

According to insiders, the idea of the shelter was first born during Carl’s final months, when he and Dolly spent long evenings talking about how to leave a legacy that was “bigger than music.”
