Jelly Roll, Keith Urban Duet Gives Fans “Chills”
Jelly Roll fulfilled a longtime dream when Beautifully Broken debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200. And shortly after its release, the “Need a Favor” hitmaker, 39, surprised fans with a deluxe version of the record, featuring collaborations with Halsey, ERNEST, Keith Urban, and more.
Throughout his meteoric rise to fame, Jelly Roll has remained refreshingly candid about his past struggles with addiction. That’s something Keith Urban can relate to, as the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer has also publicly battled heavy alcohol and cocaine use.
“Don’t Want To” draws on both artists’ experiences: And just ’cause I ain’t reaching for the bottle / And I ain’t got a smoke between my lips / Oh, just ’cause I ain’t trying to numb my sorrows / With any kind of vice I ain’t tried yet / Don’t mean I don’t want to.
On Oct. 17, Jelly took the stage for the season 3 premiere of Amazon Live, performing hits like “Get By” and Liar.” He also invited several collaborators to join him onstage, including Keith Urban. You can watch their performance of “Don’t Want To” below.
“Great music, PERIOD!” one YouTube user wrote.
Another fan added, “My favorite track on the whole project. The chills I get every time Keith hits that solo.”
“So my mom’s favorite and my favorite just collabed??” one incredulous fan wrote. “what world is this.”
Keith Urban Has Wanted To Work With Jelly For awhile
Beautifully Broken dropped Oct. 11, skyrocketing straight to the top of the Billboard 200. That day, Keith Urban toasted Jelly Roll’s accomplishment with a sweet social media post.
“the song might be called ‘don’t want to’ but I’ve been wanting to collaborate with this guy for a looong time,” wrote the four-time Grammy Award winner. “My man – I love playing with ya, love singing with ya, and am just damn grateful to be on this ‘same journey’ with you. You know exactly what I’m talking about !!”
