In 2023, Jelly Roll arrived onto the country music scene with powerhouse vocals and a message to spread. He recorded his country debut, Whitsitt Chapel, with the intention of instilling hope and gratitude in “real people with real problems.” He accomplished that with songs like “Son of a Sinner,” Need a Favor,” and the Lainey Wilson collab “Save Me.” All of these tracks helped fast-track Jelly’s path to mainstream success. However, none came to mind for the Grammy nominee’s young son when reporters asked him to name his favorite Jelly Roll song.
Noah’s Favorite Jelly Roll Song is a Deep Cut
With the support of wife Bunnie Xo, Jelly Roll has managed to juggle music and fatherhood. The “I Am Not Okay” hitmaker (real name: Jason DeFord) has two children from previous relationships: 16-year-old daughter Bailee and son Noah, 8.
Jelly and Bunnie typically work hard to keep Noah out of the spotlight, which makes sense given his young age. However, the little boy made a rare red-carpet appearance during Monday’s (Dec. 16) premiere of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in Hollywood. He’s apparently a “huge” Sonic the Hedgehog fan—and it doesn’t hurt that his dad has a song, “Run It” on the latest film’s soundtrack.
Dressed identical to his father, Noah smiled shyly as he answered questions from an ET Online reporter about his favorite Sonic the Hedgehog character. When the reporter asked him about his favorite song from his dad’s catalog, the little boy gave an unexpected answer.
“Uh… ‘Creature,’” Noah replied.
The country star’s son had to reach deep into the vault for that one. Jelly Roll recorded “Creature” with Kansas City rappers Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko. The track appears on his 2020 album A Beautiful Disaster, predating his pivot from hip-hop to country.
Jelly Reveals Why His Cell Phone Is Currently in the Cumberland River
Last month, Jelly Roll made a show of disconnecting from technology by filming himself tossing his phone into the Cumberland River. While it made for a great viral moment, the “Liar” singer’s motivations were quite serious.
“This phone was causing me a lot of guilt,” Jelly told wife Bunnie Xo on her Dumb Blonde podcast.
The three-time CMT Award winner admitted to feeling “overwhelmed” by the “hundreds and hundreds of text messages” he was receiving every day. Therefore, he took drastic measures to kick his habit of “mindless scrolling.”
