John Schneider, best known for his role in The Dukes of Hazzard, has some strong opinions about Beyoncé’s foray into country music. In an interview with the right-wing One American News Network, Schneider didn’t hold back in criticizing Beyoncé. Let’s dive into his comments and see what he had to say.
Last week, Schneider expressed his frustration with Beyoncé’s fans pushing for her new song, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” to be played on a country music radio station in Oklahoma. During his conversation with OANN host Alison Steinberg, they discussed how the country genre has evolved over the years.
Steinberg commented on the entertainment industry’s penchant for taking over every aspect, saying, “The lefties in the entertainment industry just won’t leave any area alone, right?” To this, Schneider responded by comparing Beyoncé entering the country music scene to a dog marking its territory by urinating on a tree.
Schneider elaborated, “They’ve got to make their mark, just like a dog in a dog walk park. You know, every dog has to mark every tree, right? So that’s what’s going on here.” According to him, artists like Beyoncé, who has won 32 Grammys, should stick to their usual genres and avoid venturing into country music.
However, there’s a twist – Beyoncé is set to release a new album titled Renaissance: Act II on March 29, 2024, which some fans speculate could be a complete country album. This raises the question of whether Schneider has truly heard everything Beyoncé has to offer in the country genre.
While Schneider didn’t appreciate Beyoncé’s musical exploration, he also expressed his concern about other pop stars, like Post Malone and Lana Del Rey, showing an interest in country music. With approximately 76 million Americans enjoying country music weekly, it’s understandable that renowned artists would want to tap into this vast fan base and expand their appeal. Schneider’s stance reflects a broader concern within the country music community about the influence of pop on the genre.
One might find it surprising that Schneider is speaking out on this issue, but he does have a significant background in country music. He made his mark in the industry during the ’80s with his nine studio albums, a greatest hits package, and eighteen singles. Hits like “I’ve Been Around Enough to Know,” “Country Girls,” “What’s a Memory Like You,” and “You’re the Last Thing I Needed Tonight” all reached the top of the Billboard country singles charts. Despite his success, he continues to perform and even participated in season ten of The Masked Singer as “Donut” in 2023.
Response from Beyoncé’s Fans
Unsurprisingly, fans of Beyoncé did not take Schneider’s comments lightly. Many labeled him as “racist and hateful” for comparing Beyoncé to a urinating dog. Some fans took to social media platforms to express their opinions.
One fan pointed out that country music was created by black artists, while another reminded everyone of artists like Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones who have also delved into the country genre. They highlighted the inconsistency in the criticism targeted solely at Beyoncé.
John Schneider’s remarks about Beyoncé’s venture into country music have sparked a debate among fans and observers. What are your thoughts on this matter? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section on Facebook!
