Travis Kelce is returning to the Kansas City Chiefs for at least another season – and Taylor Swift fans are on cloud nine.

ESPN host Pat McAfee revealed on Thursday that Kelce has decided not to retire and will instead bid to help the Chiefs regain their Super Bowl crown next year.

And his girlfriend’s die-hard legion of ‘Swiftie’ fans are delighted that their favorite popstar will be back in the stands at NFL games next season.

One wrote on X: ‘Travis kelce is locked in, another year of him and t swift!!’

A second Swiftie commented: ‘Travis playing for 13 seasons – love it! Can’t believe this upcoming season is his last – but I’m so excited to watch the Chiefs and to see Taylor at games!!’

‘I need taylor to wear travis’s jersey for his last season,’ said a third.

While another even went as far to conclude: ‘Travis getting in best shape of his life for his wedding and for season 13 tayblessings for Taylor herself!’

Other members of Swift’s fanbase were delighted McAfee was the one to break the news, with one saying: ‘Not only is he always supportive of Travis he’s maybe the only sports guy who has been 100% positive & supportive of Taylor. Never anything even kinda shady. I respect that. Not even the subtle bs trying to blame her tour. Just positive.’

While another wrote to McAfee directly: ‘Thank you! You have always been so good to Travis. You’ve always believed in him. And thank you for always seeing the greatness of Taylor and Travis all the time. You were there since the beginning of this love story too. Thank you so much’.

Swift has frequently attended Chiefs games over the course of her two-year romance with Kelce, most recently watching on from the stands as they suffered heartbreak at Super Bowl LIX.

Travis revealed after that defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this month that he was contemplating retirement on the back of his 12th season in the NFL.

Yet in a shock announcement on Thursday, McAfee opened up on the stunning texts he has received from the Kansas City legend – who told him ‘I can’t go out like that’.

‘Gonna try and get to the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop,’ the former Indianapolis Colts punter said when reading the texts he received.

‘Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle. I can’t go out like that!!!!’

Kelce only managed four receptions in the blowout Super Bowl defeat to the Eagles while also dropping two passes. However, Chiefs GM Brett Veach has since revealed he was battling an illness leading up to the game.

The tight end was fifth among tight ends in 2024 with 823 receiving yards, but that total was his lowest since his sophomore season in 2014.

Travis also hauled in just three touchdowns over the course of the season, leading to speculation that his time in the NFL could have been up.

However, Veach dropped a huge hint that Kelce would carry on at the NFL combine on Tuesday. ‘I still think he has that fire and desire to play… we’re excited to get him back,’ he said. ‘I think Travis is excited to come back.’
