A Wheel of Fortune player who went viral for giving one of the worst wrong answers in the show’s history has spoken out, admitting that he ‘just went blank’ during his hilarious mistake.

Will Jordan, a coast guard veteran who now works as a school resource officer, had audiences in stitches when he buzzed in incorrectly with ‘treat yourself a round of sausage’ – instead of the correct response ‘give yourself a round of applause.’

Following the side-splitting error, Will spoke to Maggie Sajak, the program’s social correspondent, about the ‘missolve.’

‘Yeah, I’ll tell you, when the lights are on and you know the stars, Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White, it’s… I just went blank,’ Will confessed to Maggie, the daughter of former Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak.

But Will seemed to take the spectacular fail in his stride, as he added: ‘If your dad, in retirement, is watching the show, maybe cracks a beer and has a laugh, it’ll be worth it.’

Maggie promised that she would tune in to watch the episode with her dad, while Will recognized he’d get some playful ribbing about the gaffe back home.

‘I’m sure I’m gonna have sausages in my locker and police car when I get back, so we’ll try to have some fun with it,’ he added.

Presenter Ryan Seacrest then came over with a cue card from the show which he signed, as Will asked him to make it out to the Jordan family.

‘This is really gonna be special,’ Will said as Ryan handed the cue card to Maggie for her to sign, as she offered some words of encouragement.

‘Don’t worry about it, Will, even if they put sausages in your locker now,’ as they shared a snap together.

Will made the mistake during category phrase, and immediately realized he was wrong shortly after blurting out his guess.

The next contestant, Kitina, immediately solved, delivering the correct response: ‘Give yourself a round of applause.’

After Kitina solved, Ryan joked: ‘Although, Will, I kind of liked yours better. That sounds better than just clapping right now.’

After the match, Will proved to be a good sport about the mishap, speaking with Maggie Sajak about the ‘missolve’

Will didn’t earn any money in the game until the final puzzle, when he solved with the correct response of ‘Necklines and Hemlines’ to win a cool $8,000.

He finished in third place behind Kitina with $10,500 and the winner Chantel with $13,000, who moved on to the bonus round after winning $10,000 by solving all three puzzles in the Triple Toss-Up round.

Unfortunately, Chantel couldn’t solve the final puzzle of ‘Online Auction,’ which would have won her $100,000.

Viewers were tickled by Will’s wrong answer and flooded social media in fits of laughter.

‘So funny!’ one wrote on Instagram. ‘I bet it’s hard when the cameras and lights are on you.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another said: ‘That was hilarious! He had a good game though.’

‘I couldn’t believe what I heard!!’ wrote a third.

A fourth joked: ‘We all need a round of sausage!’
