Eminem Triumphs at the 2025 American Music Awards With First Wins in 15 Years
In a night full of surprises and star-studded performances, Eminem made a triumphant return to the spotlight at the 2025 American Music Awards, clinching two major honors after a decade and a half without a win. The legendary rapper, who has been a defining force in hip-hop for over two decades, was crowned Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist and took home the award for Favorite Hip-Hop Album for his latest project, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).

Although Eminem couldn’t attend the glitzy ceremony at Las Vegas’ Fontainebleau in person, he delivered a humorous and heartfelt video message from his Detroit studio. “AMAs, what’s up? Favorite male hip-hop artist, thank you, I appreciate that. I think it’s been 23 years since I won my first AMA and I’m 24 years old. That’s crazy,” he joked, referencing his long history with the awards and his signature wit.
The competition was fierce, with Eminem edging out hip-hop heavyweights like Drake, Future, Tyler, the Creator, and Kendrick Lamar for the Male Hip-Hop Artist title. His album also bested acclaimed releases by Future & Metro Boomin, Gunna, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler, the Creator, solidifying his enduring appeal and artistic relevance.

These latest wins bring Eminem’s total AMA count to nine. He first dominated the AMAs in 2003, sweeping four awards in a single night, including Pop/Rock Male Artist and Favorite Hip-Hop/R&B Male Artist. His iconic 2002 album, The Eminem Show, also earned him two major AMA trophies.
Released in July 2024, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking Eminem’s eleventh chart-topping album. The record sold an impressive 281,000 units in its first week, scoring the biggest opening for a rap album in 2024, according to Billboard.

Supermodel Heidi Klum had the honor of presenting the Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist award, while Eminem’s acceptance messages added a personal touch to the fan-voted celebration. The AMAs, broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+, also featured electrifying performances by Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Gloria Estefan, and Rod Stewart, making it a night to remember for music lovers everywhere.
With these latest accolades, Eminem proves once again that his influence on hip-hop—and pop culture at large—is as powerful as ever.
